The city sleeps with open eyes, beneath a pale and hollow sky. The windows glow, the streets remain, but no one dreams behind the glass. They traded wonder for control, removed the colour from the soul. And every clock repeats the same, while silent years erase the day. But somewhere underneath my sleep, a hidden world still breathes in me. I am the last dreamer, the last one still awake. I see beyond the walls they built, I feel the silence break. I am the last dreamer, and I will not disappear. While every sleeping heart forgets, I keep another world in here. They watch me from the empty screens, afraid of everything I see. They say the visions must be wrong, that dreams are where the weak belong. But I have walked through silver rain, and heard the stars begin again. I found a door beneath the stone, that only opens when alone. They cannot take what they deny, or close the worlds behind my eyes. I am the last dreamer, the last one still awake. I see beyond the walls they built, I feel the silence break. I am the last dreamer, and I will not disappear. While every sleeping heart forgets, I keep another world in here. Maybe I am losing ground. Maybe nothing waits beyond. But if I let the vision die, then every colour will be gone. So let them come and close the door. I know what I am fighting for. One sleeping mind can still become the place where new worlds are begun. They taught the world to stop believing… But they forgot about me. I am the last dreamer, the last one still awake. I’ll tear a passage through the dark with every breath I take. I am the last dreamer, but I will not dream alone. Tonight a million sleeping hearts will find the road back home. I am the last dreamer, the first of something new. And when the sleeping world awakes, it will remember how to dream. Close my eyes… Open the world.
“The Last Dreamer” is about holding on to imagination, hope, and individuality in a world that has traded wonder for control and conformity. The narrator refuses to stop dreaming, believing that one person’s vision can awaken others and bring colour and possibility back to a sleeping world.
